The Best Guide on How to Post a Business Ad on Craigslist

1. Go to CraigsList.org

On the Craigslist homepage, click on the city (choose the region first and then the city) that you want to post your ad in. In most cases, Craigslist will automatically detect your region and redirect you to the right page.

2. Create a Posting

Click on the “Post to Classifieds” or “Create a posting” link just below the “Craigslist” logo text on the top-left corner.

Below the picture on the page, you’ll see a text: “Is this your business?” Click it to begin your verification process.

Note: It doesn’t matter if you still don’t have a Craigslist account. You’ll be prompted to create one in the process.

3. Choose Type of Posting

Select the type of ad you’re posting. As a business, you’ll usually choose “service offered” and then click on “Continue

4. Choose a Business Category

Pick the relevant category your business falls under and click on “Continue.”

5. Sign-Up for an Account

As mentioned in Step 2, you’ll need to create an account on Craigslist to post an ad. Enter your email address and select “Create an account.”

6. Create a Password

Create a password for your account. Then click on “Set Password.”

7. Accept Terms of Use

Upon setting up your account, read Craigslist’s Terms of Use click on “I Accept” if it is within your requirements.

8. Choose Your Business Location

Choose the best location that fits your local business and click on “Continue.”

9. Create Your Ad Copy

Add your ad title and details about the services you’re offering. These two are critical for your target audience. Then fill out your specific location and postal code.

10. Choose Your Mode of Contact

Specify your contact preferences. You can send your responses to your ads into your email, phone text, or your Craigslist account. At the same time, you can also choose to have your ad location appear on Maps.

If you’re willing to receive inquiries about your business itself, check the “ok for others to contact you about services or commercial interests” option that appears at the bottom of the form. Once done, click on “Continue.”

11. Add Images to Your Ad Copy

Add up to 24 images for your ad. The first one that you add will be the featured image on the ad preview. Once you’re done, click on “done with images.”

12. Preview and Publish Your Ad

Check how your ad copy will look like. If you’re happy with it, you can publish it.

Note: Once published, you’ll receive an email with a link to edit your ad when necessary.
