1. Set-Up Your Account
There are two ways to add your business on Instagram:
- Use your existing personal account as your business account.
- Create a separate Instagram account for your business. In this case, just sign-up for another Instagram account. (Recommended)
Now you can add your business to Instagram using the following steps.
Install the Instagram app on your smartphone or tablet and sign-up. If you already have an account, log in and go to your profile.
Tap on the three vertical dots that appear in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Scroll down and tap on the “Switch to My Business Profile” option.
Note: It is required that you have a Facebook business page if you want to add your business to Instagram. In case you don’t have it yet, you’ll be prompted to create one in the process. Furthermore, you can manage your Instagram business profile from the Facebook page itself.
2. Set-up Business for Instagram
You’ll be redirected to a page with a carousel introducing Instagram for businesses feature. Then tap on “Continue.”
3. Create or Link a Facebook Page
You’ll be asked to “Create Your Facebook Page” Fill in the details, including your Page title and business category. If unsure, you can ‘local businesses,’ which is the ideal main category. After choosing your primary category, choose a subcategory relevant to your business. Then, tap on the blue arrow button on the top right-hand corner of the page.
But in case you already have a Facebook business Page, you’ll be prompted just to add it.
4. Add Your Business Contact Information
In the next step, add your business address, email address, and phone number. This will appear as call-to-actions on your Instagram page. After that, tap on “Done.”
5. Your Instagram Business Page is Ready!
Once you’re done, you’ll be redirected to your Instagram profile. Click on “Edit Profile”
6. Optimize Your Business Profile
Edit your profile. Fill in the fields with the necessary business information, add your profile image, and tap on the blue tick mark on the top right-hand corner.
