Maximizing Online Presence for Your Small Business
We’ll explore the essential steps you need to take to create a robust online presence for your small business, helping you stand out from the competition and attract more customers.
- Optimize Your Website for Search Engines: Your website is the foundation of your online presence. To ensure that potential customers can easily find your site, you need to optimize it for search engines like Google and Bing. This process, called search engine optimization (SEO), involves using relevant keywords in your content, creating informative and engaging material, and ensuring your site loads quickly and is mobile-friendly.
- Engage with Customers on Social Media: Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter offer valuable opportunities to connect with your target audience. Create and share content that showcases your services, offers helpful tips, and highlights customer success stories. Regularly engaging with your followers by responding to comments and messages helps build trust and encourages potential customers to choose your business.
- Create Compelling Content: Providing valuable content on your website and social media channels not only attracts more visitors but also establishes your business as an expert in your industry. Create blog posts, videos, or infographics that address common questions or concerns your customers might have. This helpful content will drive traffic to your website and encourage visitors to share it with others, further increasing your online presence.
- Collect and Showcase Customer Reviews: Positive customer reviews are a powerful way to build trust and credibility with potential clients. Encourage your satisfied customers to leave reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Facebook. Be sure to respond to both positive and negative feedback, demonstrating that you value your customer’s opinions and are committed to providing top-notch service.
- Utilize Local SEO Strategies: As a small business, targeting customers in your local area is essential. Optimize your website and online listings to include location-specific keywords and ensure that your contact information (name, address, and phone number) is consistent across all platforms. This will help search engines understand where your business is located and increase the likelihood of appearing in local search results.
By implementing these strategies, you can maximize your small business’s online presence, making it easier for potential customers to discover your services and choose your company over the competition.
Expanding Beyond Google: Bing and Voice Assistants
Before we dive into the tips for optimizing your small business, let’s take a moment to understand what search engines and voice assistants are and how they work.
Search engines are like giant digital libraries that help people find information on the internet. Some popular search engines include Google, Bing, and Yahoo. When someone types a question or some keywords into a search engine, the search engine looks through billions of web pages to find the most relevant and helpful information.
Voice assistants, on the other hand, are like helpful digital friends that listen to your questions and find answers for you. Some popular voice assistants are Siri (on Apple devices), Alexa (on Amazon devices), and Google Assistant (on Android devices and Google Home speakers). These voice assistants use search engines to find the information you’re looking for. For example, when you ask Siri for the nearest pizza place, it uses a search engine to find pizza places close to your location.
Now that we know what search engines and voice assistants are, it’s clear that making your small business easy to find on both these tools is crucial. By optimizing your online presence for search engines and voice assistants, you’re making it easier for potential customers to find your business and learn about the products or services you offer.
The Importance of Being on Multiple Platforms
Now that we understand what search engines and voice assistants are, let’s discuss why it is essential for your small business to be visible on multiple platforms.
- Different people use different tools: Not everyone relies on the same search engine or voice assistant. Some people might prefer Google, while others might use Bing or Yahoo. Similarly, some people might use Siri, while others prefer Alexa or Google Assistant. By optimizing your business for multiple platforms, you make sure that no matter which tool people use, they can find your business.
- Reach a wider audience: Being on multiple platforms increases the chances of reaching a larger and more diverse audience. Each search engine and voice assistant has its unique user base, and being present on multiple platforms allows your small business to tap into these different groups, ultimately increasing your potential customer base.
- Better online presence: The more places your business is found online, the more visible it becomes. When people see your business on various platforms, they are more likely to remember it and consider it a reputable and reliable option. This increased visibility can also lead to more customer referrals and recommendations.
- Stay ahead of the competition: Many small businesses might focus solely on Google, leaving other search engines and voice assistants unattended. By optimizing your business for multiple platforms, you have a competitive edge over other businesses that are only visible on one or two platforms.

If you’re a marketer or your business owner watch this video because I want to talk about something really serious. I want to talk about why everybody’s focusing on Google. Yes, Google is a monster. It is a madhouse. It is probably the biggest and the best area to be able to have your business. But what about everybody else?
Did you know that over 50% of people are using Bing to do internet searches?
Did you know another like 25 just read an article at 25% of people are using voice search?
There’s big chunks of things that matter Beyond Google. Yes, you have to make sure you’re on Google. Yes, you have to make sure you’re updating— we’re very integrated into Google. A lot of our competition out there: Yelps, DBA, Bright Local sign up, they all focus just on Google. Yeah, they do a little bit, they dab out a little bit, and they’re starting to be able to catch up and compete with us.
We’re one of the newer marketing platforms on the block. We are the new kid. I have used every single one of our competition—every single one of our competitors. I’ve either white labeled or I’ve used in some capacity for the most part at least all the top ones. And they all focus on Google and I think that’s leaving a lot of stuff on the table because I see people doing Bing searches, I see people searching by voice, using Bing Maps, using Bing places. I see people going to places that are not just Google, so if you just focus everything into Google, you’re leaving a market behind, you’re leaving a whole entire sector of people that are searching for the products and services you have. And you’re not showing up and anybody who’s going to those places to make sure that they’re being optimized is going to come to the top, and they’re going to get more phone calls, more people walk in the door, more people knowing about them, more people spending money with them, and buying products.
So, you have to make sure you’re being found everywhere. It’s not just one place and this is gonna by the time I end this video, it’s probably gonna be two more places that pop up. Probably not that fast but then it’s not happening that quickly, but you know what I mean the technology is constantly changing so don’t just focus on one place, make sure you’re being found absolutely everywhere, make sure you’re injecting the right information into all the search engines, make sure you’re activating all your voice search, make sure you’re doing all the things you can—to be found.
Simply Be Found makes it simple for your business to be found by more local customers without all the hassles along with it. So, if you’re looking to get found by more local customers or you’re looking for your agency to be able to White Label us to be able to sell another product to your service.
